Falowiec is a street photography project I startet in february 2024. It is an essence of analog street photography Poland. The word falowiec stand for a “wave building apartment block” and is the longest residential building in Poland. It is located in Przymorze district of my hometown Gdańsk in Poland. The one I am writing about is almost one kilemeter long and is bent left and right like a wave. There are few others falowiec buildings in this neighbourhood (7 in Przymorze and 1 in Nowy Port). You can read more about falowiec buildings HERE. The concept of my project is to take street photography in Przymorze district with falowiec as a main backgruoud. I try to document every day life of the street in this small area in Poland. I walk around with my 35mm Nikon camera and shoot on Ilford Delta 100 black and white film. I use only manual focus prime lenses, and very often wide lenses, to show the majesty of these enormous buildings. It is not olny about the building. Most important are the people that live in it, walk around it, just an every day street photography.
